Project Description

The castle of Andrássy family and the chapel of St. Jozef

The manor house has undergone several modifications. After the end of the II. World War it served as a school. Its areas used and highly acclaimed the botanist and breeder Stefan Litowsky, whose name associated with the beginnings of the experimental cultivation of cotton, sesame and sorghum in open space. The manor house is not on the list of protected cultural monuments but in its complex the stone wall hides one of the other national cultural monuments of the village – a Roman Catholic Chapel of st. Joseph. The chapel, which originally served only aristocratic family, was built in Baroque style in the late 18th century and later underwent partial classicist modification. The chapel served as an orphanage and after the II. World War it began to serve in the Roman Catholic Mass, which serves today.
